Only automatics. The manual three on the tree shifters went out in the late 50's.

Not sure if I understood the question about "every other Ford?" but I had three fords with three-on-the-tree, all six-bangers: 65 Falcon Futura, 2dr ht (200 cid); 64 Fairlane 4dr sdn (170); and a 70.5 Falcon Torino, 2 dr sedan (250). Can't speak for the V8s.

3 on a tree....it means that the shifter handle is on the steering column
