What was the first year that GT model was released?

 

The first Mustang was produced in 1964, 1964 1/2 actually.

Ah, you're right. It did come out in 1965 as a 1964 1/2 model. The GT package was available then.

 

1964 1/2 the only models avaliable were the coupe and convertible as I have read. Then in 1965 the 2 + 2 fastback came around. Is the 2 + 2 fastback the same thing as the GT? Or is there a specific year that the model GT came out?

 

The info I have says there is a GT performance package for the engine. Just seems to up the hp, no suspension or such.

I'm really not sure but I do know the 64 1/2's had 260's. The engine choices for the GT package were the 289/225 and the 289/271 which only became available in 65. I think the GT package bacame available after the 65's were out. I think....
