I'm not sure that Mustang is a trademark. There are Mustang guitars and Mustang airplanes not to mention the horse. This is going to be interesting.

Why wouldn't Ford just license the name out for a mere $1..? That would certainly hold up their end of "protecting the trademark".

If it wasn't trademarked, they would not be going after people for trademark infringement. There can be more than one trademark on the same name as long as the usage is for something different. For example, I own a trademark and have a website with that name -- so does someone else, but mine is for a totally different product. Someone just registered my domain name as an .eu TLD but until they put up a website and we can see what they plan to do with it, I can't take the domain.

I just found 145 trademarks for the name Mustang including MUSTANG GT-R (Motor vehicles, namely, automobiles, trucks, vans, sport-utility vehicles, and their structural parts and engines) and FORD MUSTANG (cigarette lighters),

They just have to be able to prove that you were talking about the car from what I've heard from a few other people. This was a pretty big thread in the OT section about a month ago

That's probably the idea though. They might just want it to stand out since this started.

Edit: Epic, I just realized that we both have a '67 Stang, an '89 Porsche, and I have a 2nd house in Scottsdale. That's kinda creepy
Err, where's your first house? I am just in AZ for school, I live outside NYC. If you're in NY then I am scared of you.

Are you on the rennlist forums at all? How has the 944 been for you? Any issues? If you're ever stuck with something on that car feel free to PM for help.
