So, how do you actually tell what year an engine is? With this whole fiasco with the waterpump and what not, I wanted to make sure I can get the right parts the first time..... Like a heads kit, cam, blah blah blah..

about the only way to tell for sure is to remove the starter and look at the casting number cast into the side of the block.
