Default 10,000 dollar paint job

Hi all!
I tried painting my own car and the paint I used was defective [:@] The company refunded my money but no labor. I stripped the car again and redid all the body work. I loaded it up on a trailer and took it to the only paint shop within a hours drive. The paint shop owner said I did a good job stripping the car then said it would be 10,000 dollars to paint it!!!!!!!!!!!! I could not believe it!!!!!!!!!! The car is all stripped with no bumpers or script. Doors are off so the jambing would be easy. I guess if you live near a ski town people assume you have a lot of money.

Or assume classic owners have a lot of money. Maybe you should get the job done in another town.

Yeah, a quality paint job should never cost you more than 2-3K if you already have it stripped. That's ludicrous.

Hi rmodel,
all the paint shops said they would not guarantee their work because they did not do the primer. They would be worried about adheadsion. btw GA is to far for me to drive. Thanks for the offer!

Dang when i clicked on this thread I was hoping to see what a 10,000 paint job looked like. I wanted to see some emerald green with some flake or something in it so that under one type of light lime green skulls would be visible and then when you moved to a different type of light source red demons (like a few barons of hell or something) would replace the skulls.

Oh well []

yeah, i'm looking at a metallic raven black with CUSTOM metallic silver stripes (my personal secret!! [8D]) and i'm looking at 5-6K. does that include prime work and body work with the paint job, cause than i could see it being a little higher, but still not that high.
