Overheating w/ 64.5
my uncle has a 289 bored to a 302 and it keeps getting really hot
hes already bought a new aluminum radiator, replaced thermostat, drilled holes in it,
checked timing, had hydrocarbon test which was okay, installed electric pusher fan,
has mechanical six bladed flex fan, and has the right anti-freeze mixture
any ideas?
thanx

1st. 289 and 302 are the same bore. Next what temp thermostat is installed. You need at least a 180. Anything cooler than that can cause a overheating issue. Also check what soaring mentioned. Change the thermostat with drilled holes. Making problem worse.
well he just told me that he had a 180 installed..overheated
he installed a brand new 180 and it still overheated
took it to a mechanic and he put the 160 in it..still overheats

Is it overheating or is the gauge wrong. Check temp with temp gun at different points on the engine and radiator.

he thought it might have been that because the fluid doesnt boil over any more but still runs hot [according to gauge]
