Tail Clip
I just took my mustang to the body shop monday, and me and the guy thats going to do the work were talking about some of my options. The back half of my car and the roof is pretty rusty, if i decided to repair it it would probably include new quarters, new wheel houses, new trunck floors, new tail light panel, new transition panel, new rear frame sections, and some other things. ive got another mustand which is pretty much the opposite, the back is solid but the front is not to swift. The body man said he could do what he calls a tail clip where he will take and cut the back off my car, and cut the back off the other car, and put them together to make one. I was skeptical at first, but i know this guy is GOOD, he has shown me pictures of the process where hes done it on other cars and you cant even tell when he gets done. What do yall think about it? Ever heard of something like that before?
yea, he pretty much showed me everywhere he would cut and everywhere he would weld, i think im gonna let him do it,
cause in the long run, it will be better than peicing everything together

Front clip is usually faster and easier and requires a lot less body work and finish welding skill and would prob (In my uninformed opinion of all the exact details of the damaged area) net you the same thing...A non-rusty car grafted onto a rusty car.
I've done a few clips too and agree with the above.
Are you replacing the roof with the tail clip?
If so the work should be the same as a front clip.
The one thing that comes to mind is that most front or rear clips I've done were wrecks.
If the rear of this car is so rusty, What shape is the front in?
I know alot of people frown on clip jobs but most that don't like them havn't seen just how many small pieces go into making a car.

the guy is gonna cut the car at the windsheild posts and the rockers behind the seats, but hes not going to cut it straight off, he is going to stagger all the cuts to make it stronger and easier to put back together. As i said before, the front of one car is good and the back of one car is good, put the two together, and i have a good car. Once he gets done, you wont be able to tell its ever been apart, unless of course i tell ya. Ill be taking lots of pictures, and will post them on here so yall can see whats goin on.
