I'd say a 290 or so.

A 289 with a standard overbore. That's about as far as you want to go on a 289 as the cylinder walls are super thin.

Do the math. Bore(include the overbore, .030 over on the bore will add .060 to the bore size) X Stroke X 8 = CID

My engine caluclator says 294
And it's 0.030" over, not 0.30"

Ok lets try this. The bore on a 289 is 4 inches. If you machine .030 of the cylinder wall then you make the the bore 4.060. You understand why this is right? Take .030 off the wall arouind the entire circumference of the hole, it makes the hole .060 bigger. So, take 4.060 x ... oops I see my mistake. first we need to find the area of the top of the piston basically. pi R squared. 4.060 is the diameter. half of the diameter is the the radius or 2.030. So 2.030 X 2.030 X 3.14 (Pi) = 12.939626. Now we have the area of the top of the piston. so, we need the volume the piston displaces from tdc to bdc or stroke. So that would be 12.939626 X 2.87 (stroke) = 37.13672662. that is the volume that one cylinder displaces. To get total displacement multiply that by 8. 37.13672662 X 8 = 297.09381296. sorry I guess I didn't think about it enough when I posted that before. There is your answer 297.09381296.

Are you saying that if you bore a cylinder out .030 that the hole doesn't get .060 bigger? I'm pretty sure it does. So your bore should be 4.060.
