Removing Steering Column
I am in the first stages of a T-5 swap for my '65. In the April 2006 issue of Mustang Monthly (with the 003 Shelby GT. 350) the "How-To" section describes how to remove a steering column for a replacement pedal assembly. My problem is, they used a '69 with a rag joint, which I don't have.
Any help on installing this pedal assembly would be greatly appreciated!

You have to remove the steering box. The steering column is attached to the box, with no way to take it off the box. While you have it out, you may as well replace the box with a Flaming River box.
I don't have a camera handy P Zero, and that wasn't what I was wanting to hear Soaring...[:@][&:] lol
I would like a Mustang II front suspension, so I might wait until I have the money for that too before I swap the pedals.
Thanks for the quick replies,

Alright, I have been looking into other rack & pinions too, thanks for pointing that out.
Basically, I want the rack & Pinion style steering, possibly coil overs, with disc brakes front and rear...I don't know if I want coil overs in the rear, or if I want to keep the leafs.
I might be highjacking my own thread with this, but has anyone heard anything about RRS suspension products? How good are they?

ok, I have done a R&P swap on a 67, and it is not easy, the kits are not the best. As for removing your column, remove your brake booster, master cylinder and drivers side header/exaust manifold. It will look like it could go out under the car, BUT the easiest way to remove the box is to pull it out between the hood and the grille.
you got a 65 right? coilovers for your car front only will be about 2500. the rear would be between 3500-5500, depending on exactly what you are looking for. you could get a grab-a-trac kit for a considerable amount less and still have good handeling. the 650# coils are great from what i hear and the leafs supplied are better than origional and perform very well.
Yes, I have a '65. I wonder if I would be able to pull off the steering column sleeve, and install the pedal assembly without removing the column completely?
Grab-A-Trak has always caught my eye, plus it's a fraction of the price of the coil overs
What is the general opinion of Mustangs Plus? Does most everyone have good experiences in purchasing from them?
Thanks for all the info,

Mustang II front suspensions are weak. You may want to re-think that.

whats up with the IFS haters here. do you have any support to back up that claim or is it just your opinon?
BTW i dropped the whole front suspension all at the same time. if you end up with the IFS kit that is the way to do it. loosen all the front suspension and let it hang (it will rest on the frame rail) then pull the steering wheel and column and drop the front. pull it out and your golden. this is with no engine in the car.
