Default transmission Compatibility

I have a 69 mustang with a straight 6 150 cid. It has an automatic C4 transmission in it. Due to some major faults with my transmission i am looking 4 a rebuilt tranny that will fit it. Just wondering if this transmission would fit on my car.

Thanks
holzer

PS I still have the old tranny so if i need to take the bellhousing from that or anything like that i could.

I'm no expert but that looks like a C5, not a C4. IIRC the C5 uses a lock up convertor. Reach out for Huchamatic, he is a tranny guy and will likely have your answer.

I thought I had replied on this. The trans will fit with a bellhousing, torque converter, and possible input shaft change. The best bet might be is to get your rebuilt. A reputible shop would do yours for anywhere from 550 to 700 including remove and install. Then you know it will fit. You might want to email the seller and see if he has a 6 cyl unit for sale. I think I remember that it was a shop offering that trans for sale.

Wait I just looked at the pic again. That trans will not fit your car at all. It is a later 70's unit with dipstick in pan and bellhousing bolts to case and not pump. DO NOT BUY for your car.
