'90 5.0 motor into a '68 mustang??
Hey guys !
New here, I just found a '68 Fastback "S" code 4 speed and bought it. It needs a little bit of work but I want to so a semi-resto mod to make it reliable and useable here in the thin air of Denver. I'd like to put a fuel injected motor into it and have the chance to pickup a 1990 5.0 HO motor from a GT Mustang that is disassembled and would do a .030 over bore and some upgrades. Can I put that motor back into my '68 with just a motor mount change and if so what 4 or 5 speed do I need to match it up with.
I'd like to stay away from doing any cutting on the car so that if I wanted to take it back to stock (390 w/ toploader) then it would be no problem.
What options do I have with this car any suggestions for other upgrades (brakes, steering, air conditioning, would be helpful)?
Thanks - Tony V.

u can do disc brakes, rack and pinion steering, air conditioning, add posi if it dosent have it, etc etc.....there is endless possible upgrades....just dont ruin the originality factor of the S code...disc brakes, air, steering etc in my opinion dont ruin anything but enhance it....ripping the original engine out of a rare car to swap in a common 5.0 is just ridiculous though.......
Thanks Guys!
I forgot to mention that the original motor and trans are long gone and have been replaced by a 289 and a 3 speed manual on the floor.
Soooo - do I go find a date code correct motor and trans and restore it to totally original condition or do I have any leeway on the restoration ???
Originally we bought it to resto it for my wife to drive (power steering / pb / ac / etc...)
However from what you guys are saying - if it is that rare I should keep it all original as I can.

3 spd manual was like standard i think....then the C4 (or C6 in the case of a big block) is like an upgrade....then there was the 4spd upgrade too....im pretty sure.......
lets put it this way.....IF you can, and you are up for it, go ahead and try to find that 390 and toploader.....u can still have A/C, P/S and eveything u would want and could get from a 5.0........
