Protractors are used to measure angles, you need a compass or preferably a circle template to make good circles. But if you do not have either one of those, then I agree with what you did...draw a view of the car that doesn't have circles

I worked about an hour on it.

 

Im very slow, that would have taken me a couple hors minimum
