NEED TRACTION
Hey i got my mustang about 3 months ago and ive been noticing that the traction just isnt to good. I mean like when i take turns and i acclerate just a little the back tires kinda power slide and spin a lil id this normal or is it probley the tires? What kind of tires do yall have? ANything else i can do for better traction. Also what do ypu guys reccomend for cheap uprgrades that are effetive in power performance liek h/p i mean. Ty to all replies
A larger width tire can do wonders. I have a beefy 289 without posi and seldom lose traction. My rear tire size is 235/60 R14. BF Goodrich Radial T/As. I will downsize when I add a posi, cause thats alot of meat. The obvious, but more expensive fix is to add a posi/tranction loc.
For more horses, I would start with headers. Then intake (4 barrel carb and matching intake manifold). If your engine has high milage, you should probably save your duckets for a rebuild.

Other than new tires a 1 1/8" front anti sway bar and a 1" rear will also do lots of good
2 or 3" lowering 650 lb rate springs in the front with 1" lowering leaf spring with higher lb rate with koni or kyb gas-adjust all the way around.
This will do wonders to keep the rear of the car in the rear but the whole setup is like ~ 1000 and goes up from there when you add global west upper and lower a arms and so on, but there is a point of diminishing return. Also depends on how much you want to spend but you’ll see the most improvement with shocks and anti-sway bars and springs.

Yeah, besides a tool box in the trunk, you could move the battery back there. But, the best thing you can do to help improve traction is some new tires, and don't put more than 28 lbs. of pressure in them.
