My 67 coupe I6 has bolts on the battery apron area..see picture....I recently purchase a replacement piece for this and is doesn't have any bolt holes and has to be welded...

yeah my 68 has that too...which is why i was wondering if its supposed to be easy replacement....as u all know, battery acid takes it toll over time....i got some surface rust there.

Removing this panel is a pain. Lots of spot welds to be drilled out. Also, if youu dont rosette weld the new one in it will look crappy. I had rot under my battery, but the rest of the panel was good. I just cut a patch panel out of a sheet of steel and cut out the rusted area using the patch as a template and then seem welded the patch. Came out excellent and no drilling spot welds. If the damage is more extensive, you may consider buyiong a replacement panel and cutting just enough of it to repair your panel by seam welding.
Good luck.

yeah, its just surface rust so i could always sand it down probably....just figured it would be easier since those panels are cheap.
