Default HELP! ! !

i have a 66 straight 6 and am having some problems getting it to run properly. i just put a new starter, plugs, fuel filter, and a few other little things in it and i figured that would fix it. the problems is that when i step on the gas it sputters like its not getting enough fuel or it dies. the car dosnt feel like it has any power and i had a feeling that it was somthing with the carb. so i rebuilt it but nothign changed. any one have any clue what could be wrong with it? any thing would help. thanks
nate

Pull the air cleaner and rev the engine. See if it is squirting gas. Still sounds like a carb problem. A good upgrade is to go with a Granada Stock Holley. They are much better than the stock mustang carbs.

Yea i did that alreay and every thing was fine. nothing was leaking or any thing. so i just dont know what could be wrong with it. i was actually looking at a carb at autozone. it was a holley but dont wanna spend the money if i dont have to. what would make it do that? its just been frustrating me for the past week or so.

Could be the vacuum advance on the distributor. Take the top off of the distributor and then remove the vacuum advance hose from the carb and suck on it. It should advance the plate inside the distributor. If you can suck and all you get is air then the diaphagm is bad on the vacuum advance.

ok just went out to the garage to check it out and every thing seemed fine with all that so it must be the carb.
