Default Edelbrock customer service

Contacted Edelbrocks customer service today to ask a few questions. Waited 5 min. before getting a tech. I explained I had bought some new aluminum Edel. heads, and wanted to make sure I had the right components (ie, intake man., carb., cam. ect.) to compliment them. After describing my engine and components including cam specs and such, he did some calculating ( I think he was acutally taking notes or entering the info into a program). He commented the cam I have (not an Edelbrock) was better then the one they offered (in their package I guess). Wow, suprised me he would say that since he is working for them! I asked if I should change from the performer intake manifold I was using to the performer rpm or rpm air gap. Instead of trying to sell me on a new manifold (which I was ready to buy if he had suggested it) he explains why he thinks I should stay with the performer, and that contrary to popular belief, it is not just a aluminum copy of the stock ford 4v manifolds (ie designed to flow better) and is a damn good manifold. Same thing with the carb, said a 600 cfm (which is what i'm using) is just right for what I have. I was extremely tickled when he told me I should produce 300+HP with my setup.

I called with my checkbook open, ready to spend some $$. Instead, I got some good info without one attempt to sell me something. Thought I would share what I consider to be a good experience with Edelbrock.

I ran a cam like that a long time ago. It runs good with stock heads. I don't like their tech line. I ahve spoken to them on several occasion and had to wait for over 30 minutes and they were not very helpfull with their info.

I called on a Wednesday at about 11:00 am (Pacific Time). The tech mentioned I should call back if I came up with anymore questions because the wait time was shorter than usual.

I don't usually make negative comments about other companies and I hope you did not take it that way. I was just explaining my experence with them Their products are great. I use them alot. I have only called them about 4 times. I was building a Olds 403 in a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. I used their Aluminum Heads and intake. They were not very knowledgable about those items. I had to call an Olds racing engine builder to answer some of my questions. If anybody ever wants yall to put Aluminum heads on a 403 Olds. Don't. It is a pain in the butt. The car is fast and runs great but alot of work.
