Default Carter Carbs

Is a Carter Carb any better than an Edelbrock? I have the option to have my Carter rebulit for $280 or do I just buy a new Edelbrock and pop it on myself?

Thanks,

Jsegars

For my 66 Hardtop / 289

Well once the patent expired on the AFB edelbrock jumped all over the plans for the Crater AFB and made a clone (knockoff) of it straight away. You be the judge.

I have carter AFB in my 66 and I really like it but I dont know what would cost 200 to fix, perhaps a second offer is in need here. It’s basically a lump of aluminum with 2 little thingies in it, its not open-heart surgery.

I've got my Carter AFB in my '69 and it looks like it's going to out live my engine. It's been at least 4-5 years without a rebuild including a 3 years of just sitting. Any time that my starter will roll over the engine she'll fire right up and run like a striped assed ape. I'm not so sure I'll ever get rid of mine, but if I do then I'll probaly go with Holly instead of jsut a newer version of what I've already bought.
