Default Hood latch pics

My 1965 mustang hood latch is broken, the hooks that grab the hood are lying limp and dont move when I pull on the latch, I dont recall knowing how exactly it keeps its grab but by the looks of some notches on each side it seems that there are small gaps for springs, is this correct or is something else broken on it. Some up close pictures of a 1965 hood latch would be very helpful

listen....you could spend your time trying to fix a 40 something year old latch...or u could buy a new one from any mustang parts supplier and save yourself a lot of time and effort......my opinion....take it as u will....
