Default Dash Repaint

While waiting on parts to complete the upgrades on the new head, I decided to go on with the dash and interior repaint. Can't figure out how to remove the light switch from the dash. I got the bezel loose, but I'm stuck at that point. There isn't an allen screw like on the wiper switch and I don't see anything that would release the **** or the shaft. Am I just better off to reassemble and tape off the **** and bezel.

I am doing just that right now. I just taped all of the ***** off. When stripping the dash I reccomend that you use paintstripper and then sand off the remainder to bare metal.

There is a little button on the assembly in behind mine (on the other side of the dash where the wires hook up) you have to press it in with the **** all the way out then pull it out...it is on the right hand side on mine.

Edit **I assume you mean the headlight switch**

Thanks to both of you. Did the tape off, strip and sand the first time I redid the dash 16 - 17 years ago. Just wanted to try to do a better job this time buy removing as much as I could. I'll look to see if I can find the release and should I fail at that I'll drop back 5 and do the tape routine again. Thanks again.

6788notch,

That was the trick, just ran out to the garage and rotated switch until I saw what your picture indicated. Immediate sucess. Many thanks.
