"Sand"blasting is a good way to remove old rust and paint, its not the media you use that will get you in trouble its what you do after.

Any form of sandblasting creates alot of dust, this dust gets into every crack you can imagine and a few others aswell.

Now if you sandblast a flat sheet of metal its all good, if U sandblast a whole car its not so good, the sand or whatever form of media is used gets into the cracks and holes everywhere and then will collect moisture and create rust problems.
This can ofcourse be fixed by cleaning out all the sand, but its a really big job to clean and prime it.

Most home renovations of cars is something going on over time, if you decide to sandblast the car, spend the extra money and send it to a shop totally stripped of everything. They have the equipment (usually a jig) so they can rotate the car.

Option number 2 would be to get it chemically striped, it goes into a acid bath and thats it, off comes all the paint and 90% of the rust

Only thing to remember if sandblasting is the clean up afterwards.

Make sure you get all the sand out, get it primed and its all good
