Default advice on interior restoration

I have a 68 gt fastback. I'm almost finished with a complete frame off restoration. I'm currently on the interior. I am trying to find the interior fastback vent grills that are located on the interior quarter. I have the originals but they are somewhat pitted. I figure you guys have a lot more expertise at this than do I so...Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to find replacements or advise on how to retore the ones that I've got? Thanks for your suggestions!! Sam

I checked out Mustang Country Int. No luck. Surely someone has dealt with this problem before. I seems that if I blast the peices then painting it chrome and black will be very difficult. But at the samr time I cant very well restor the rest of the interior to new condition and leave htese grills untouched. I am open to any suggestions as to what to do. Thanks.

pitting is a tough thing since it was cheap pot metal that was chromed. One thing to do is to drill out the pits, fill with led and then re-chrome it. I used to work at Mustang Country 6 years ago, at that time, the fastback specific parts were getting harder and harder to find. Another option is to contact Unique Performance in Texas, they are the bastards turning good fastbacks into those ugly GT-500E's, I am sure that they would have some

I have also been looking for the vent grills and I have been told they are not making after market ones yet for the 68, I'm sending mine to the chromers next week and hopefully they tell me that they can fix them.
