Default My Engine pull, getting ready for the new 289

Here she is just about ready to pull the 302 and the 3 speed auto out. If the builder does not fall behind, I should have it next weekend. Then the new 289 with the AOD goes in.. Weeeeeeeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaaaa.....

Um, why'd you go to a smaller engine, anyway?

I did not want to rebuild the engine that was in it and I had a 1968 vintage 289 in my shop that was NEVER touched. The 289 has a shorter through which gives it an advantage for higher RPM's. I also wanted a 289 and not a 302 for nostalgic reasons..

True, the rods are slightly shorter, giving the 289 a faster wind up. I'm excited for you Slick. Keep us posted as you stick that sucker in next week.

If you build an engine with the right "combo" a bigger engine will make more power every where any time. Sorry but I had to laugh at this statement. How can a 289 that makes less power at say 6,000 rpm be an advantage over a 302 that makes more power at this RPM and more torque at a lower rpm since it is a little bigger. Bigger engines make more torque down low then a smaller engine. So how can the 289 be an advantage? Lay the crack pipe down....LOL
