I think there is a 66 dash in my 65 mustang and a early model turnkey ignition what the hell do i do with this mess?
wire it like a 65 or a 66? also the original owner hooked the stereo up to the sellinoid[:'(] he had the + wire to the horn spliced to the + wire to the gauge wire running ot the alternator !!!!!!!

thats more like donor parts or cannibalism at worst. A hermaphroditic mustang would have a chevy engine in it.
I might be wrong about this but I think i have seen other 65s with that type of dash in it. Not sure if that’s correct but I think I have???

Is there a possibility that the prior owner had the idiot light dash panel changed out to a 66 guage panel. I did that conversion years ago based upon an article in one of the 'how to' publications.

Just take the time and wire it correctly. Undo all the stupid stuff the previous owner did and do it right.
That is one of the things that happens when you get into old cars, someone with less than a workable knowldge base attempts to repair something or add a stereo. When it happens, you get what you got.

Yup, you have a 66 dash in there. It should have the gauges that have the fuel on the left, speed in middle, straight across not in a circle gauge, and the temp on the right.
They are pretty cheap to replace. If yours works then its up to you whether you keep it or not. Personally I like the 65 gauge cluster. Kinda unique, aisde from being in the falcon as well lol.

As far as i can tell theres a bunch of stuff on it im not sure it its an early model stang or not im using the wiring diagram from
http://hammar.dyndns.org/ thats why the laptop is in the car im following the diagram for a 65 mustang and its crazy how many spliced wires are rigged to other parts of the car to get power.. in not sure what to do with this car it has a brand new rebuilt 5.0 L 302 in it with an RV cam so far and petronix ignition wiring is crazy though .......
