Motor mounts were the same from 1965 to Oct of 1966. If the car was built after 10/66 the mounts are different.

Hi,
My son and I are restoring and modifying a '66 coupe with automatic transmission. Originally had a 289. Long gone. Purchased with a 351 butchered in. Torched and hammered, Sad. We sold the 351 and bought a low mileage 1980, 302 rebuilt from a Thunderbird. What modifications are needed to install. Motor mounts, etc. It has electronic ignition with the computer and such. Is it recommended to eliminate that factory unit and use a good aftermarket electronic distributor that is simpler to install (wiring)?
Thanks in advance for any help

If your distributor is a Dura Spark II , there should be a blue grommet on the module, keep it. It will work fine once you get it wired.

are u planning on making it a fuely? cuz im looking at this swap im going to a 1992 5.0/302 and yes the block mounting holes are the same from 66 odly enough no changes are needed. The only changes you need to do are wiring if your using the newer distributor and fuely set up.

Small blocks shared the same mounts after 65. Big blocks are a different animal.

NAPA shows, 1 bolt to frame mounts, up to 3/66 after that the typical mount applies left or right. I bought the latter and they fit the frame and the block. Now we'll see if it will sit down.
Thanks everybody.

Is "fuely" fuel injected? It has a carb now. Not planning any changes with that yet.

NAPA is incorrect...

Probably why there are such issues on this deal. No matter what the single bolt system isn't what I have and that's fine with me.
The other item I'm going to address right away is that distributor. It doesn't have a blue grommet. I assume some after markets are better. Whichever. Does anyone have any tips on the wiring mess that came with this '80, 302 and how all of it can possibly apply on a '66. What are the basics needed to install it. Books, diagrams, other sources, etc.
Thanks

No blue grommet. Please look at reply to "Twister"
Thanks
