Then, there are those who claim that Royal Purple is miles ahead of Amsoil and Redline.

I talked about this in another post and spoke to Comp Cams as well. Read this article
http://www.fordmuscle.com/blog/use-t...pet-cams/11295

This is all I will use in my Stang from now on. If you have a roller cam, its not an issue and you can use any oil you like.

Rotella is one of the oils that still has zinc in it due to the high wear environment of a diesel engine. Do some research on it and see what you find.

I couldnt find the HOTROD article, but it was in the JUNE 06 issue..

This article came out first, because we had alot of cam failures in the last couple years with the Pontiacs. This applies to any engine that isnt roller inside.. I know its a Pontiac site, but its releveant to all of us.

I really dont care what oil you perfer as long as it has what your engine needs. The brand is irrelevant in my mind, as long as it isnt pennzoil..lol. That stuff has so much wax and gunk in it, it clogs oil feed galleys and leaves deposits everywhere in the engine, especially the valve covers..

Honestly, just pick an oil that you are comfortable with...I have heard horror stories about every kind of oil out there. Castrol Syntec is not really a synthetic, but my parents ran it in their 89 GT for years without any problems. AMS oil, Royal Purple, and Red Line are all about the same...except for the fact that AMS Oil has more additives. Mobile 1 is supposed to be the best synthetic on the market right now(keyword, SUPPOSED)...the Wal-Mart brand synthetic actually outperforms most other synthetics(outdoes roughly half of the competitors). In all reality, because of the strict guide lines that oil makers have to abide by the best oil out there is not much better than the worst. The only problem I ran into with synthetic oils is my old main seal(it WAS a rope seal) and oil pan started to leak, after I replaced those parts, I haven't had a problem since. BTW, I run AMS Oil 10W-30 in my 289, and I am going to go to Royal Purple soon.
