Default Worth the Work? (Pics)

Hi guys, my names Joe, I'm 17, and I need some help from people who have spent some time and money into a classic 'Stang. I posted a couple topics earlier about the Mustang I was getting.

I'm still trying to decide if I should get this or gear for something economical. Being 17, I'm not sure how much Insurance is gonna run me.

The Car: 66 Mustang Coupe, 289 V8 w/ 10K Miles - Has some reported break pressure problems from the owner. Needs Massive Cosmetic work on the interior ( no idea how much that'll run me, was hoping for Leather, Black on Black ) and I plain on painting it Black ( got an estimate for paint...$1500, Life Time Guarantee )

This guy wants $5,000 for it. Going to actually see the car in a couple of days with my dad.

What do you think? Thanks, - Joe

Zman, looks like a nice car with plenty of potential. Id search ther floor pans and framerails especially for rust. It seems it has a good lean to it so you may need to replace some of the suspension, but that wont be too bad. I say go for it, but leave the paint alone till you have all the other things out of the way.

And that last pic looks like a bulldog on a leash lol

Congratulations Joe, looks like a very nice car, my opinion is that you work first on the safe issues such as brakes, steering, cooling and solve the presure problems that you mention so you can drive and enjoy the car, the cosmetics can be done slowly according with your economic resorces..I think that will look very nice on Black or maybe you like to keep it as close to the original and painted the color that shows in the factory tag, the choise is yours.

Very Cool : )

Does that price seem reasonable to you guys? Or does this really depend on the condition? I have yet to see the car in person as its 2 hours away from me.

My dad was a mechanic for 10 years and owned an auto parts store for a while so I'm hoping anything beyond repair he'll be able to spot.

Thank you so much for your input.

I was wondering the same thing about the chain. From what I can tell from the pictures, there seems to be very litte if any rust issues. And because it is a V8 car, I would buy it for 5K. Get it put into your father's name, and just add you to his insurance policy.

The only leash I have is in electronic form Curse the inventor of cell phones! :-D

On a lighter note - that interior ( just from the pics ) is not that shabby. Little elbow grease and some material and you're back in business.

Those one-off snazy hub caps have gotta go tho - [sm=wtf.gif]
