Default Labor Day morons

It was a beautiful day for cruising, so I figured I'd take out the 'Stang and put her to good use. 3+ hours of cruising, 160+ miles, and she ran without a hitch.

First I encountered some guy in a '69 or '70 Mustang who zoomed up beside me at the light, then took off leaving lots of rubber on the road. I wasn't impressed.

Then in the middle of a country road some guy in what looked like a Hyundai was talking to a few kids on bikes, but in the middle of the road. When I pulled up behind him he took off, screeching tires, fishtailing as he went like a bat out of hell. I wasn't impressed by him, either.

A red 2006 Mustang pulled up next to me at a light and the guy threw me the finger. I blew him a kiss to his utter disgust and shock, and luckily the light changed and I took off slowly but surely as he raced by me. Not impressed.

The guys who simply waved without trying to show off -- the guy in the black 1968 Firebird, the guy in the 1955 Ford truck (which I want, dammit), the guy in the 1973ish brown Maverick and my favorite, the guys in the 1970's Galaxie convertible.

Some people can be such a**es and have no respect for such a fine car such as the classic Mustang.

I have no idea why he felt the need to do that. Most guys in newer Mustangs just nod, smile or look at the car and ignore me, which is fine!

The look on his face when I blew him a kiss (don't want to make a typo with *that* sentence) was laughable -- sort of "wtf" combined with "ewww, it's a girl and it has cooties" all rolled into one.

Tomorrow will be a similiar day weather-wise so I'll be out cruising for a few hours again and we'll have to see what I encounter tomorrow.

kind of an off topic question, but what kind of fuel mileage do you get with your mustang?

Unfortunately it no longer runs at 18-20 MPH since they "fixed" the carb and he told me he would open it up a little more. I'd say it's getting about 15 MPH but gas is down to $2.60 so I'm not stressing over it.

I feel your pain whenever someone thinks that an old car means "lets race." I was pulling into my driveway and a guy on an 04 GT deemed it necessary to rev his engine and leave with the tires smoking...my big problem with him was that we were in a neighborhood, what if someones kid was out playing??? The people who look and nod or just ignore me are fine, but that bunch of hot heads really irritate the hell out of me.

Better than that, I had a man "tell" me how I had the Shelby exhaust on my car, and that the duel tips out of the rear valance was a Shelby option and not Ford option...even after I told him that I had factory GT style exhaust. I love to listen to the old stories from people that owned these cars back when they were new, but the few liars and "know-it-alls" just get under my skin.

I know what you mean.

I felt so good when I actually got a WOW, out of a young boy, who was looking at my trailered 71 fastback.

It's good to see that there is hope for the next generation.
