Default Strut Rod Nuts, HELP NEEDED

Hey guys, I have been rebuilding my 67 coupe and bought the master suspension kit from American Pony Parts. I had to cut the strut rod nuts off because they were completely seized to the strut rod. I thought it would be no big deal to just go to the hardware store and get new nuts.... WRONG. The shaft is 11/16 and the thread is 18. I went to 5 different hardware stores and an online site and NO ONE has this nut. Then I buy the nuts from NPD and they don't fit! I call up NPD (michigan) and the guy says that its a problem with my car and that their nut is correct. I asked him about getting my 10 bucks back and he said "its not my problem, we aren't going to do anything for you" ********. NPD (florida) did however refund the 10 bucks.

But the question here is, where can I get this nut? I need 4 and it seems damn near impossible. Also, I got new bushing in the kit and the bushing fit on the strut rod just fine..... any help here would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah,
That is not a standard nut. Call Randy at www.randallsrack.com he uses these for the rack and pinion setup (same thread size and pitch as the outer tie rod end). Do yourself a favor, don't email him on this. Spend a dime and make the call. Basically he'd be doing you a favor.

I talked to a couple of different nut and bolt companies (KAR Products and Lawson Products) about this. I could get them in as little as a box of 50 at about $2.50 each. What a favor! I asked if they'd kiss me first

Why not upgrade to a nice set of Street or Track strut rods?

Hi Nick,

Did you actually find them here? I called McMaster Carr and was told they didn't have them.

Everytime I have needed something I couldn't find that was hardware related...they had it.
If you called them and they said no......well....I updated my post [:'(]

Or it could be the person I got on the phone didn't know how to look them up. but I'd sure give it a try.

Yeah, McMaster Carr has been a valuable source for me too over the years. They are usually the call I make when I can't source something local.
