MY WHEELS!!!
When I bought my wheels and tires several months ago they arrived with two of the directional tires turned backwards. I'm running 235 in front and 245 in the rear. Today I decided to take them to the largest tire store in Alaska, Johnson Tire. I gave them one 235 and one 245 and told them all they had to do was turn each tire around and re-balance. Easy, right? Well I almost **** when they charged me $54 to do this simple task when I delivered the tires and rims off the car. I figured they had to pay for that fancey machine that doesn't touch the wheels and I would be getting the best bang for the buck. I specifically asked if they had that machine and told him I didn't want my new wheels scratched. Mind you I have not driven the car but to a friends house one block away since I got these tires and wheels. I have less than one mile on these rims. I went to pick them up and found that they had scratches all over the wheels. Not just scratches, but DEEP scratches. I had the guy go and get his manager. He came over and looked at them. I think they wanted me to go away by their actions. Then the ******* kid that mounted them came over and said they were already scratched then he started. His manager told him to get lost and get away. If I was thinking right I would have told that punk what I am thinking right now. They never offered me a refund. The manager said all they can do is have them pollished. I told him he'd have to pollish all four to make them match. He is will to do that but now I'm having second thoughts. I came home and pulled the other two wheels and the whole time I'm thinking, "I wouldn't be doing this if it weren't for those jerks". They get paid for taking these wheels off a car why shouldn't I!!! I'm going out of my way so these idiots don't have to buy me two new wheels. And I'm doing all the work! I want a refund for sure and that jackass' job who made me out to be a cheat and a liar. I am mad now.
If I do have these wheels pollished, they will be high maintenance and probably corrode faster. Help me out here. I need some advice. What would you do???? Here is what the
good one's look like up close. You can see they are still new. The others are at the tire store right now. Sorry for the long winded rant.

that sucks big time.
is it a chain store or owner operated small time?? If chain, go to the state manager. if small time, scream till you get the owner.
I would take the 2 good wheels down there to prove their original condition.
I would take close photos of the damaged wheels so they dont screw with them while you arent watching.
I cant see why polishing would lead to corrosion, but would be worth a call to the wheel manufacturer/ supplier...tell them the story and see what they think. If still concerned, ask for a warranty on the polishing.
if not satisfied, i'd speak to a lawyer about your consumer rights.
We have an office of consumer affairs here which can give free advice. i don't know if you have the same thing, but there will be some service.
try this???

I would have them get the old clear coat off, then clear coat them again so that the scratches are totally removed and you still have a clear coat on them. Don't settle for anything less. Keep going up the chain until you get satisfaction. You may wind up in small claims court.

Good new! Thanks for the input. I called Johnson Tire this morning and told them I wanted two new wheels. I was able to get them a break from COYS myself. Since COYS mounted the tires backward from the begining I think they felt partly to blame. I have two new wheels on the way. The tire shop told me they are getting a brand new tire machine and it should be here next week so hopefully they can do it right this time. I think they know better to scratch them next time.
James Coy told me there is no clear coat on these wheels. What is this ZOOPS stuff? Is it like wax and have to be re-applied often? How does it look on a machined finish?

well thats cool.
no clear coat, well I would suggest having them clear coated professionally (unless you have the means to do it yourself) after all is said and done. If not you can expect to remove aluminumoxide about twice a week.
Cool wheels by the way, send some pics once they are on I want to see how they look.
