65 restore..opinions needed three 18 and 17 year olds need help.
Ive owned my 1965 I6 4spd since i was 16 bought it myself no parental BS help, slowly working on it clutch mainly, ive just picked up my great grandfathers 74 351c ranchero for my 18th birthday present so that i can start to restore my mustang. Two co workers and I will start in a few weeks..My dad is a british car guy but knows what he's doing so he'll only be around to point and laugh at us "kids" ..anyways sorry for the life story. I am 100 percent keeping the I6 but i was wondering if anyone has any great opinions for us websites or just basic info.. two of us took 1.5 years of mechanic class but public schools teach little but were not dumb when it comes to cars just not yet Experienced. Any help tips or encouragment is welcomed. Thank you again.

Be patient, Rome was not built in a day and neither will a good car, unless you are on overhaulin and have unlimited budgets. Learn to weld. Learn this skill well, it will save you money. Buy some books. Shop manuals, body manuals, etc... Get catalogs and everything you will need. Keep what you can and replace what you cannot. map out your project and just start. Catalog everything when you take it off the car. I cannot stress that enough. Without this slow painstaking process of tearing it down, you will have much more difficulty in putting it back together.
This book has been great in helping with the teardown. It is a little cheesy, and it is from the 70's so dont laugh at the pictures.

This is just some initial stuff, as i think of more, i will respond with it.
Good luck and keep us posted with the progress.

by all means, get rid of the 4 speed, it is easier to break than a rubber band and you can not get parts for it. Feel free to ask us questions, and buy a Ford shop manual, it has the most info about the 200....

Would a 4spd from a V8 be out of the question theres a guy selling one for 100 o.b.o.
For exhaust systems what muffler does anyone recommend?
