Default starting problem behind coil

my mustang stopped running in the middle of the road and wouldnt start up again. i have fuel so i assume there is an ignition problem. i checked and i took off the high intensity wire from the distributor and put it next to the heads and got no spark from the coil. how much voltage should i have on the + side of the coil and the -(negative) side of the coil. i have electronic ignition, so how could i check that as well, eventhough i think that shouldnt have much to do with it.battery is good, turns over.

You should have up to 6 volts at the coil when you check it with a multi-meter and the engine is running. You could run a hot wire directly from the battery to the plus side of the coil to bypass the pink resistor wire.

Check you're electronics in the dizy and you should have 8 volts at the dizzy.. The ping resistor wire that feeds the coil drops it down from 12 volts to 8 volts.

so i get seven at the + side of the coil and it says around 1.5 for the neagative side. than i dont get any spark out of coil, do i know coil is bad. how do i test coil as well.

If you have voltage at the coil then one of two things can be wrong. The coil is bad or the electronics in the distributor is bad. The coil is the cheapest replacement so, do that first.

Seeing he has an electronic distributor, you are correct...
