Sorry, i must be getting old but, a background rumble lovely but other than that on a long trip does it get annoying, I found that out when my exhaust started blowing bad and had to drive 400 miles in my citroen AX 954cc!!!

Well, I must say it's an inventive idea. Not too smart having exhaust fumes exiting right under the car though.

Loving the sound of open headers all the time will leave as you get older. I still like it in moderation though, but hey, I'm only 26. Anyways, using oil drum caps is just a homemade version of the exhaust cutouts that you can buy from summit or jeg's. I think a disadvantage to the oil drum caps would be that over time, corrosion will take its toll on the cap's fine threads causing it to be a nussaince to get off, plus you have to crawl under the vehicle. If I were going to go with exhaust cut outs, it would have to be the remount mounted kind that you can turn on and off from the drivers seat (i.e. when cops come into sight). Someone did a good job coming up with the idea of the drum caps though.

there are exhaust companies out there that make electric cutouts that you can hook up in the interior and use them when you want them, the loud sounds of open exhaust all the time will be cool for about a hour then all you will get is attention of cops and pissed off people, which will be a bad deal everytime you start the car.
