Default Engine Questions For 65'

I am new to Mustang world and just got this 1965 for free. It has the straight six in it and I was wanting to replace it with something with a whole lot more power! Would I be a fool to take out the original engine? Also what size engine should I be looking for to put into this beauty? I don't have alot of mechanical experience, so keep it simple for me. Thank you!

I may be wrong on this, but the value of an original 6 cyl isn't super high or anything. So it would be better to make the car the way that you want it. Don't get me wrong, you can make power with the 200 ci, but it's not real easy. Build what you want.

289 302 or a 351 will all fit. 289 would be period correct
