I say 6AL L stands for limiter so you dont blow your engine. I like my pro billit dizzy and blaster 3 coil works great

I have a 6A, it is a great box, but i do wish I wouldve spent the extra cash on the 6AL for the rev limiter. Does provide a sense of security.

The rev limiter in the 6AL drops a firing event from random cylinders on each firing cycle to keep the engine from going too high in RPM. It wont go over that no matter what you do.. well going down a steep grade of downshifting to first at 100mph will over rev your engine, but not under power.

I have the 6AL on 3 vehicles and the Mustang and Cougar will likely get them as well. It has saved the 455s a few times, since with stock rods they are rpm limited to around 5800-6000 rpm. Much over that and things come apart alot faster than you would expect. So miss a gear with the 4 speed, break teaction, or break the auto trans so it freewheels and you can over rev real easy. I did all three of those with the GTO, broke the 4 speed doin it.. lol.. Then broke 4 automatics behind that engine.. It grunts hard and moves a 4100lb vehicle real hard... mid 13s in street trim.

I would spring for the 6AL, peace of mind... and not much more $$$
