Default How do I get them nice and shiny?

My Mustang had these American Racing wheels when I bought it, but they are filthy and I haven't been able to scrub the crap off. Would a little steel wool do the trick, or can someone recommend some other way to get em nice and shiny again.....? Thanks.

They have oxidized. I'd try a buffing compound and then seal them with lacquer or you'll always be working to polish them again.

go to the next big car show and find that guy that polishes the kegs and soda cans and stuff. The polish is a green, semi-gritty liquid compound, and then they also sell a sealer, which is a cream colored liquid compound. Use the both in that order and they will be nice and shiny!

Wheen polishing the wheels on my truck I take them off and use the new Mothers ball (big one) on a drill. You can get the Mothers ball at AutoZone. For a polishing compound I use either the small can of Mothers Mag Wheel polish or, the best thing I have found is the diamond plate tool box polish which can be found at Lowe's where they sell the truck tool boxes. It is about 12 bucks and works great on wheels. Pour the stuff on your wheels, use the ball on slow/medium speed to rub the polish on until it turns black, then use the ball on high speed. Works great for my polished aluminum wheels on my truck.

Start with 0000 steel wool, then use an aluminum polishing compound. Here is an example.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll let ya'll know how it comes out. I have been working diligently on restoring my '66 Coupe, but I live in a tiny little town way out in West Texas. The resources are really limited out here to get parts, supplies, etc. I have been ordering fom several suppliers all over the country, but shipping costs are eating my lunch. I will be in Dallas for work in a couple of weeks, and I am getting a list together of stuff to pick up at Dallas Mustang. I did want to ask....has anyone bought a new under dash wiring kit and replaced the old? Is it fairly easy to do? I have lost power to all gauges, and the windshield wiper switch (brand new) no longer works. The wiring is original, and in pretty bad condition. It's frayed, dirty, and covered in old paint. I just put a new voltage regulator in yesterday, but still no juice to the instrument panel. I'm thinking of just getting a new kit and redoing it all....

A tiny town in west Texas, huh? I grew up in Stanton. Midland and Big Spring were my stomping grounds, and I dated a gal from Tarzan.
