Default Rear frame rail

I got it out and the new one in within four hours! It was a BIATCH removing that damn thing. Thank god for air chisels and drills. I still have a few welds where the two meet. I quit after my beer spilled all over me!

Nice work. So you didn't think you could hammer and dolly the pieces of your old frame rail back into shape, and weld it all back together?

(Doh! wanted to include the pic of the old frame rail pieces not the new frame rail... hopefully the edit works).

Nice Valley. I will need to replace that piece in the future as well. My car was in a rear end accident and there is a gash down the frame at that spot. I already have the peice but my exhaust man said he'd replace it for me whne I get my exhaust...Looks like it was fun

I would have straightened and welded the old frame rail back together but I just happened to have a new one standing by The rear of the rail was crumbling apart and was coming apart. There was a hole the size of a silver dollar under the shackle. I think it was due. That was the last of the frame work!!!!!! Now I'll probably have to put her away for winter which is very near. I only got to drive her around the block this year. Next spring I should have new paint.

Valley you have it worse than we do here but only temp wise..lol. Its still much nicer in Alaska and michigan than it is anywhere in Nebraska in winter. That has got to be the absolute worst winter in the USA.. and they have been mild recently..

One thing about the old nightmare, the rails are in good shape.. inside and out. So in that respect I am a happy man.. its the rest of the car that sucks. Short seasons suck too. I need to get out and get something done today..

I have driven through Nebraska on the way to Iowa before coming to AK. It was in April and no snow that I can remember. I hear the wind blows pretty hard and the wind chill factor gets way down there. Of course when I was in Neb I had to stop at Cabelas
