Got my rear drums...
So, I finally got my new rear drums for my 67 and I figured Id test fit them before I painted them. One goes on the passenger side, no problem. The other one refused to go on the driver side. I sat there trying to force it for acouple minutes and then gave up. So, I swapped places and it fit on the other side so I figured it wasnt the drums themselves. It looked like the shoes were getting in the way, the drivers side "stuck out" further. So, I started prodding and beating on it looking for a clue and a little piece fell off. I thought, "GREAT, i have no idea where that goes". SO I looked on the othersdie, figured it out, and then realized it was a spacer to shorten or lengthen the shoe space. So I notched it down and the drum fit fine.
Not really important but I figured it out myself so I was happy

Use the star adjuster to expand or contract the shoes. Really should put new shoes on with new drums so that they wear evenly. After you get the drums on, use the adjuster to expand the shoes just so they are barely toughing the drums and you can feel just a little resitence when spinning by hand. That is the back yard way. The correct way if you have a measuring caiper big enough is to measure the inside of the drum and then set the shoes with the drum of a hair less thant the ID of the drum.
