I'm looking to resto-mod my 1967 Mustang. I'm going to the the typical things (4 wheel disc brakes, Overdrive transmission, Rack and pinion steering, etc...), but I want to drop in a 4.6L engine from a 1996 to 2004 Mustang coupled with a six speed manual transmission (converted from an automatic). I want the motor to have all ODB II capabilities, including a DLC to help diagnose any problems it develops. I am also planing on running cats to use the downstream O2s (but cats only, no mufflers). I am wondering if anyone knows if any of this has ever been performed, and if any modifications have to be made to the car, engine, wiring, or computer to make this work.
Yeah, the compuers on those 67's use those old tube transistors. I would recommend updating it to a mac.

Soaring, the SN65 used a blown 4.6 Cobra engine with updated mechanical and electrical systems throughout (including AC, hydro-boost power steering and breaks, ABS, traction control, etc…)...They still had shock towers but they were not the typical '65 shock towers...

my1967stang, you should check out the SN65 project....it has lots of info on what you want to do...

Very cool link, they did the same thing I did with the grill...

The only thing I don't like about SN65 is the front apron (or valance whatever you want to call it). The two little air ducts look like they just ran out of ideas and cut two holes in the front (although Im sure those are functionally needed to feed that cobra beast). I think they could have made a front apron that more closesly fuses the front bumper styling of the 03-04 cobras.

hell it would have looked better if they had just used the glass ones that have the intake scoop where the license plate usually goes.

That's very true, it would have looked much nicer. I would have put the signals between the grill and the head lights (were the gills are) and used the signal opening as the air ducts.

You will have to remove the shock towers or at the very least knotch them. The 4.6 SOHC and DOHC are very close to the same size.

They still had shock towers but they were not the typical '65 shock towers...
The only thing 65 about that car was the skin. Everything underneath is pure Terminator Cobra.

^....Maybe not the 93 5.0's though because that was the first year they came with hypers. Go back a year to 92-- you'll get the same power ratings, same setup, only with forged pistons!
