Do you have Tom Monroe's book? If not, you need to get it before you attempt any rebuilding of your engine.

flex plate should be okay. Guideplates can be reused unless you are going up in pushrod diameter. 1/4" to 3/8" is a big jump.. not that anyone has 1/4" pushrods, just an example. Same diameter same guide plates, provided they arent worn out. it is a good idea to replace them, but not absolutely necessary..
