Pammie has a GREAT ONE for her V8 ride.. Its a sweet one too.. If she does it right, she can get nearly the same mileage from the big V8 as she does from the I6. its called a Qjet and a light foot with reasonable gears, possibly an overdrive.
It will be a great one thanks to all the advice you've given me and will hopefully keep giving me as I get the drivetrain in place!

I didn't think about gas mileage for it, though ... who cares! It's such an amazing car I don't even care lol

how I check mileage in my vehicles. There is a digital readout that shows me how much fuel I put in it to the .00 gallon. So lets say i drive 330 miles in the ol LS1 urged daily driver and it takes me 12.46 gallons to fill it untill some dribbles out. I am adept at knowing when it is full and when it can take a little more. So we divide 330 by the 12.46 and we get 26mpg.. Now if I have been hotrodding around and doing mainly city driving that is about right. Usually it takes about 11 gallons to fill it at 330 miles on the highway. I check it every time I drive long distance, and that is a few times each summer, and then average it out over the month or trip. Not bad for a 305hp rated 5.7L V8 is it? The winter car beater 97 dodge intrepid gets around 28-32 depending on the fuel we put in and how much we sit in construction areas...
Pammie does not have a V8 ride.

Um... Glen.. yes she does. Currently it is sans engine, but it was origianlly a V8 car and its getting another V8.. hopefully a 400ci or bigger. its purdy too, a nice maroon with cool wheels.. I might hook her up with a 2004R trans for it, if she give me the hook up on the manual steering box and related parts.. lol. Gotta make sure I can still build them and get them to work before I ship her one.

I'm sending off a check tomorrow for the power steering box and the manual one will go to him!

So far he's given me awesome advice. I'm so Mustang-oriented the first thing I did when the car was delivered was open the hood and look at the apron for the VIN number ........

BTW, Scott, I can't drive by a cow now without thinking about you barking at them!

Well a Qjet would work well on a 351, but I am not going to put one on my 351. But sure as the sun is coming up tomorrow, there will be Qjets on the GTOs, and all the non EFI firebirds except for the toy. it has a 1050 Dominator on it. It doesnt get miles per gallon, its gallons per mile!

Nah really the 1050 gets around 13 highway and 7-9 city. It will burn 5 gallons of gas in about 10 passes though, so that is really bad mileage at WOT.. but it only runs for 10 seconds or so at WOT..

Pammie has a GTO too... and it wont be getting a 351... but a 389 that is .060 over is a 400... hint hint...

LOL the 351 I did get was better than what they originally wanted me to go with -- remember the "small block Chevy with EFI" idea?

It will be interesting next season to compare the gas mileage between a straight 6 and a V8.

So Pammie I thought you had a 389, or is it a 350? 350P are actually a 354ci. well anyway, it will still move it well, much better than a 6 would.
