Default Shock Recommendations

I'm going to be replacing some front suspension parts this weekend including the shocks. Any shock recommendations for a 68, 289, and reason why? I'm not doing any modifications at this time, just replacing some bushings and both upper and lower ball joints (thrashed boots, original ball joints). Handling is more important than ride to both me and my wife, and I will likely make some modifications to the suspension within the next few years (unless I move on to another project first). So, shocks that would work well with some mild handling improvements are preferred.

KYB Gas-Adjusts are arguably the most popular shock purchased for these classic stangs. They are a nice upgrade without braking the bank.

I agree totally. I replaced my old shocks with KYB gas adjusts a few months ago, and man what a difference in handling and ride. They automatically adjust to the road conditions, unlike regular or air shocks.

Thanks for the recommendations. I ordered them this morning (cheaper than the FLAP). I was thinking about getting the KYB Gas-a-Just shocks already. Makes me feel more comfortable having the recommendations, as well.

how would you compare the rear end "bounciness" from kyb to the previous shock?

Not sure what you mean by bounciness. But, I get no wheel hop with the KYB's. The ride is firm, but not hard. So,if by bounciness, that the car bounces while going down the highway, then it doesn't do that. When it hits a bump, it responds with a quick short lift then back to the pavement. It is certainly not a mushy ride as you might expect from a Cadillac or a Lincoln Continental.
