Default OFF CENTER SPLINES

Been chasing a high speed vibration. Changing rear bearings helped a lot, but it's still there. Looking closely at the splines on the inside end of the larger axle, it seems the factory "splined" the axle off center almost 1/8 inch. No kidding, there is 1/8 more "meat" ouside the splines on one side than the other! ALso, the splines are worn, and they slip into the mating portion on the differential REAL easy. Has anyone ever seen anything similar?? What's a good price to pay for replacement axles, and the best supplier?

Just get some good Strange axles (or some other comprable company). Theyre good quality and really tough. Also, I was going to suggest for you to get your driveshaft balanced. Thats helped me chase down a few rear end vibes. It usually costs between $80-100 to get it done, and most of the time they recondition the shaft.

Already did ALL other possible things. Balanced driveshaft, replaced yoke bushing, rear iso mount, brake drums, shocks, spring bushings, motor mounts, rear bearings inner and outer. Rear bearing made some difference, but only thing left that it could be is the axles themselves - that offset in the splines HAS to be the issue. Looks like I can pick up a new set of axles on ebay at reasonable cost, so that's the next try. Easy enough to swap out and see if there's any difference. New axles run about 400 for the pair, a bit pricey... Tried to find someone locally to balance the axles and refurb the splines, but couldn't find anyone in the Cincinnati area that did that kind of work.
