The best bang for the buck is the Ford Explorer rear disc kit at $369, but you gotta have a 9" rear with large axle bearings.

If you are concerned about money, and you have some wrenching skills, the 1977-79 Lincoln Versailles have the 9" rear and the disk brake setup. Just go to a junk yard and rob it off one of them. Best I remember though, one of our members did that and said it was a pain to get it in, but it worked.

The problem with the Versailles rear end is that it's too wide for a '66. Also, according to DFWMotorsports.com it cannot be shortened. Also, the axles are 5 on 5" instead of 5 on 4.5"

The Versailles rear is 3/4" wider than the stock 65/66 rear. You can easily allow for that with 3/8" more backspacing on the rear rims. The axles ARE standard Ford 5 on 4.5". I ran a Versailles rear in my 65, with 8" wide rims. No problems.
