Default 500cfm or 600cfm?

Im currently runnin a Edelbrock 600 on my stock 289 and i have somebody who wants to take it off my hands. I kinda thought about downsizing to a 500 cfm if i can find one. What should i ask for the 600 (its an electric choke) and in good shape. Im doing the right switch arent i?

From everything that I've heard and read, a 500 cfm carburetor is the better choice for a 289 with a stock cam. As far as price for the used 600 cfm Edelbrock, can't help you there.

Yeah, even the Motorcraft 4100 4 barrel carb that came on the A codes was less than 500 CFM, so you will be happy with the 500. See if you can get enough out of the 600 to pay for the 500. Even Steven would be a good deal IMO.
