The Big "3" could be the Big "2" ???
In another thread last night I got talking about being careful of doing a restomod with mixed identity....which got me thinking about merging different types of mustangs toghether....which got me thinking about this rumor of the possibility of a GM & Ford Merger.
Just curious what everyone's thoughts are if this were to ever happen (it probably won't...but it could)

Anything is possible. Look at Chrysler and Daimler Benz. That certainly improved the looks of the Chrylers. Not too sure how it is working out economically, but they have been merged for a few years now. Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile and Chevy did that many moons ago. Both GM and Ford have been struggling for awhile now because of the European and Japanese influence. So, who knows? We may be driving Mustcamos in the future.
Now you might say I am crazy but I predict a japanese merge with gm/ford depending on the restructuring, i know ford work with nissan and own mazda and what about the chinese buying ford or gm??? I think however ford have some valuable brands they might be forced to sell the likes of jag, aston, land rover, mazda or volvo. I combined company of jag, aston and land rover I think could be a viable niche company. I wish GM would sell saab because they really messed that company up!!! Also why have chevy and GMC trucks just ditch one i.e. all suv/trucks are gmc or ditch gmc completely
Speaking of Saab. Have any of you ever seen a 3 cylinder Saab? Back in the day, they had one, and each cylinder had it's own set of points. It may have even had a magneto, I don't recall. I have only seen one, and I can't remember where I was when I saw it.
Its not so much fitting into a niche as it is getting the right game plan going. The funny thing about Toyota is they are earning more than 12 manufacturers combined (something like 12 billion in renvenue), and their main investment into business focus isn't even on cars...its on the technology going into them.
soaring some info on early saab engines
The first Saab two-stroke engine was based on a DKW design. The SAAB engine, a two cylinder with 764 cm3 engine displacement and 25 hp was transversally placed in the 1950 - 1956 Saab 92, giving it a top speed of 100 km/h. With the 1954 model engine output was raised to 28 hp. It had some features only found in modern cars such as one ignition coil per cylinder.
The second type of SAAB two stroke engine was a longitudinally placed 3 cylinder of 748 cc and initially 33 hp. This engine was used in the Saabs 93, 94 (with an engine tuned to 57,5 hp), Saab Sonett I and II, 95, 96, Saab GT750, the Saab Formula Junior and the Saab Quantum.
The 1958-59 Sports version of the 93B had 48-50 hp in base version and 57 hp in super version. This model had triple carburetors.
From 1959 displacement was raised to 841 cc with 38 hp. For model year 1966, the 'standard' 3-cylinder two-stroke engine was fitted with triple carburettors. From model year 1967 it was replaced with the Ford Taunus V4 engine

Toyota prove that most people don't care about cars as long as they get u from a to b, don't need the hood lifting apart from at the dealers, i mean i have not driven a fun toyota has anyone? but if i needed to commute every day i might look at a toyota and then rule it out for a type R, cupra or rx-8
