I Forgot
I don't know what kind of carb you have but if this helps I have a edelbrock carb with electric choke. I was told to hook it up to a power sorce that is only on when the Ignition switch is on. So mine is hooked up to the fuse box. If I remember right it is on the winshield washer circut. Mine is not hooked up to the starter relay
The proper way is to have it on a circuit that has battery voltage only when the key is in Run position. Otherwise, the choke heater coil will be activated anytime the key is in accessory mode whether or not the engine is running.
As an example: You're at lookout point with your girl friend watching the submarine races, and you've got Marvin Gay on the radio nice and low. It's a cold night. about 5:00 am you decide it's time to head for home. First problem... battery is very weak from running not only the radio, but the heater coil in the choke all night. You get a jump start from a guy who shows up with his fishing gear. Only now the choke is full open because the choke is hot. So the car runs like crap. You finally make it back to her place by 8:00am. Her father gets up at 7:00 and has spent the last hour polishing his shot gun....
Had you wired the choke correctly (and had Ravins on) you could have snuck her home by 6:00am and not have had your car blasted with rock salt!
Hmmmm, somewhere I hear country music

Here, take a read bud. Maybe this will help you out. http://www.chip.com/buick/techtips/choke.html
BLAH BLAH RAVINS BLAH. I love the sound of my flows. I've heard my car for the first time today, with somebody else driving. I stood in my driveway, and my friend drove it up the street. AH, IT SOUNDS SOOO GOOD!!!!!

Amazing how a "choke wiring question" can inspire such imagination and creativity! Time to call Hollywood!!! [sm=pimp.gif][sm=pimp.gif][sm=pimp.gif][sm=pimp.gif]
