Default Infinite speed Wiper Switch

http://www.cjponyparts.com/NewParts.asp#13 - Second one down on the left

Details:
ALLOWS FOR INFINITE NUMBER OF SPEED SETTINGS. REQUIRES NO MODIFICATIONS TO STOCK WIRING OR BEZEL.

Anyone heard of these before? I busted my switch pretty bad, I shoved the rod through the back on accident and lost all of those tiny springs. I've asked before if I could fix it but no one seems to have done this before. I just saw this switch today and it looks interesting. Does it matter what type of wiper motor I have? It says no modifications needed.

Hey that sounds cool.

If it ever rained where I lived I would definitely get one (assuming its not crap built)

Hey if they go fast enough you might time travel, just run a jumper from your wipers to a "flux capaciter" http://www.ohgizmo.com/2006/05/04/gr...or-for-sale/:D

i think you would be able to use your exsisting motor. the way ( i think ) wiper switches work, is each speed step lets a certian amount of power through the switch and to the wiper motor. so, if thats the way it works, a switch that does not filter out any power could have a infinite speed setting ( but limited to as much power as the car produces). dont quote me, thats just the wat i think they work.

All that switch is, is a variable switch, much like the dimmer built into the headlight switch.

Yeah I was thinking about this thing a few minutes ago. Actually now I think its a crappy idea

See what we need is not a infinite variable speed but a infinite variable delay!!

We want the wiper arms to maintain maximum velocity (The speed of the arm should never change) but we want to control the frequency of the passes "infinitely" say from 30 seconds to .01 second delay between passes)

Just slowing the wiper speed down with a rheostat or a pot is a lame idea, especially for 70 bucks, if its that price it better have a computer in it [>:]

Im thinking probably not.

See at low setting during a light rain the wiper blades are going to cycle at the same rate but at a way slower velocity so they will be in your field of view longer (the blades will creep up then down the window) than if you just let them run on the factory low setting. You could get the same exact results by going to radio shack and buying a potentiometer and splicing it into the + lead on the wiper motor (cost 5.00)

It would be awesome if it controlled the delay between passes and let the wiper motor run at full power. That way during a light rain say ever 20 sec the blades cycle at full speed once: bang/bang then stopped for another 20 sec, that’s what we really want!

If you dont mind the wiper blades being in your field of view for a lot longer then they should be, then you probably will be happy with this thing. But it’s still over priced for what it does.

I see how it works now. Thanks a lot Gun. If I cant find another part to fix my wiper switch then I guess i'll be going with this one because it replaces what is broke on mine.
