Butchering a Classic
I'm sure this is a post that will get some people talking, but I wanted to get the opinion of some people in the Mutang Community. What is yall's opinion of modifying a classic mustang? Do you think it is taking it too far when you start cutting up a classic?
This has been on my mind lately. I take my car to a lot of shows and most of the old Ford guys give me a hard time. On one hand, I feel like the mustang is meant to be a performance car, meant to be modified. On the other hand, every time i pick up a wrench and start messing with my stang, i kind of feel guilty. The car is, after all, a classic. Let me know what ya'll think.

It depends on what kind of "butchering" you do IMO...Sunroofs are a definite NO-NO! Hacking at metel to fit modern equipment is a NO-NO(like radio, they make those size radios if you must have a new one). If you put a moniter in your car Ill personally smack you...
But then again, tubbing your rear would be considered cutting it up, but thats just cool...

if your talking about making a car safer like disc brakes, better suspension, tires, and all around performance then i say it's cool. if were talking about nos stickers, funky paint jobs and big spoilers like something in fast and furious then i think that's NOT COOL.
Well I've had mine for 4 years now. I'm in the process of building a 347. It has a t-5, I've moved all the wiring into the fenders, and the solenoid under the dash. I have 17x8 bullits. Sub frames. Battery in trunk. Aftermarket hood. All MSD ignition. I'm in the process of cutting out the radiator support for a griffin radiator and aluminum fan. It's got shelby front drops and 620 coils and upgraded leafs. Just basic hot rod stuff, but sometimes I feel like I'm ruining a classic. THat's all.
