Default Attempting a Granada Swap

My Stang is in dire need of a disc brake upgrade.

I've looked into the Granada swap. Seems to me like the best choice considering im trying to keep the budget as low as possible (in college, blah). Besides, it seems like a better idea to go beefier than lighter, considering the 65 itself is an iron sled.

Now ive seen several pages of swaps, but i want to know what I need to get/ and what i need to do from you guys. That way I can watch out for any wrongs you guys have done in your swaps.

Havent drivin the stang in months.

I miss it badly.

you will obvisley need the spindils, calepers, rotors, and pads. if you get the setup dirictly off the car insted of from soneone who has alredy rebuilt everything you should at LEAST get new rubber brake lines that plug into the calipers. probly new rotors pads and rebuilt calipers woudl be your best bet. i got a duel master cylender and distribution block from a 85 mustang at the junk yard and it workes great. you will need new tie rods, order stock granada outer tie rods from any parts store and they fit into the mustang inners. maby new ball joints for the upper and lower control arms whal your at it. that will be all you need.

Its a great swap...
Been very happy with it.

A few things I feel are worth spending a little extra money on:
Adjustable Proporting valve
Stainless steel flexable brake line hoses
Heavy duty rotors

Another "nice" upgrade is the Baer trackers, but wouldn't be needed on a tight budget.

My write-up on the conversion is online at:

Wow. Nice kit. Do I need to get a new tie rod too?

Edit: Just went to the FAQ section of the site. ok. So I guess what Im REALLY asking is that there is anything you guys needed that wasn't in the kit? People keep telling me I need to get a new tie rod.

and...

Some 65-66 Mustangs or pre 66 Falcons will not have enough toe out adjustment after the swap. The solution to this problem is to use the shorter Granada type tie rod adjuster sleeves, or to shorten the existing ones.
Is this cause for concern? Im going to get it alligned after the swap, and want it as simply as possible so they don't have a fit. It's practically illegal to have an older car in the Bay Area, and I doubt there are many that will accomidate me.

Time to run through the phonebook.

Degin's kit now contains spindles that have correct geometry for all applications. He manufactures specific spindles for 65-66 and 67-73. The problem with toe adjustment and bumpsteer no longer apply. He also supplies the correct tie rods specific to the application. He has a special price of $445 + S&H for the kit. This offer extends to Mustang Forum members.
