Just got into the shifter on our 4 speed topleader and it looks like we have a few problems. Does anyone know if there is supposed to be a spring and ball on both sides of the shifter at the base? It looks like they would keep the shifter level from slopping around. If 2 are required then we are missing one and it was lost a long time ago because the base of the shifter lever is worn off about 1/8 inch on the left hand side.
